The problem / task

KPN challenged student teams to develop a front-end application focused on tracking employees' business trips while promoting environmentally friendly travel with minimal COâ‚‚ emissions. The application needed to provide an intuitive interface for registering trips, calculating COâ‚‚ emissions, and displaying statistics and reports. It was also evaluated by an accessibility specialist from Accessibility Foundation to ensure it was accessible for users with disabilities.

The challenges / what I learned

The main challenge was developing a front-end application that was both functional and visually appealing while meeting accessibility and usability standards. Additionally, there was a strong focus on the use of components and reusability of code, which was quite a challenge but also a valuable learning experience within the team.

The result

The final application was presented to KPN and provided functionality for registering trips, calculating COâ‚‚ emissions, and displaying statistics and reports. A leaderboard was implemented to compare employees' emissions and encourage more sustainable travel. In addition, the application could suggest environmentally friendlier alternatives for completed journeys.
